The Trinidad and Tobago Karate Association (TKA) proudly participated in the TTKU Karate Trials held in June 2026, where athletes from across the country gathered to showcase their skills, determination, and readiness for upcoming regional and international competitions. TKA athletes delivered impressive performances throughout the event, demonstrating a high standard of technical excellence in both kata and kumite. Their disciplined preparation and competitive spirit were evident in every division, reflecting the organization’s commitment to developing elite karate practitioners.

Beyond the results, the trials highlighted the dedication and perseverance of TKA athletes, coaches, senseis, parents and support networks. Months of intensive training, physical conditioning, and technical refinement culminated in strong performances on the tatami. The event served as an important opportunity for athletes to assess their progress, gain valuable competitive experience, and continue their development pathway toward representing Trinidad and Tobago on the international stage.
The TTKU Karate Trials also fostered an atmosphere of goodwill, sportsmanship, and mutual respect among participants from various clubs and associations. As karate continues to grow both locally and internationally, events such as these play a critical role in strengthening relationships within the karate community while supporting athletes in their pursuit of higher international rankings. TKA remains committed to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for athletes to excel, contribute positively to the sport, and enhance Trinidad and Tobago’s presence in the global karate arena.
The Selection Committee is pleased to announce the National Team selections for the period July to December 2026. The committee noted a marked improvement in overall performance and congratulates all athletes on their dedication. Athletes are encouraged to continue training toward WKF kata and kumite criteria in preparation for upcoming international competitions.
