A delegation from the Cultural Events Unit of the Embassy of Japan recently met with Dr. Nicole Lambie, Chief Instructor of the Trinidad and Tobago Karate Association (TKA), the longest-standing traditional karate school in Trinidad and Tobago, and Interim President of the Trinidad and Tobago Karate Union (TTKU).
The visiting delegation included Mr. Yasumitsu Takagi, Second Secretary for Public Relations and Cultural Affairs, Ms. Chika Kobari, Second Secretary for Culture and General Affairs, Mr. Kiral Sahadeo, Public Relations & Cultural Affairs Assistant, and Sharon Dolabaille, Programmes Coordinator . The purpose of the visit was to establish contact with a recognised representative of the local karate community and to explore opportunities for future collaboration between the Japanese Embassy, the TTKU, and the TKA.
This meeting marks a promising step toward strengthening cultural ties through the shared heritage of traditional martial arts.
