The Trinidad and Tobago Karate Association (TKA) successfully hosted its End-of-Year Grading, marking an important milestone in the development of karate practitioners across the country. This event brought together students from various affiliated clubs, along with instructors, examiners, and supporters, all united in celebrating growth, discipline, and achievement within the art of Shotokan karate.

Throughout the grading, students demonstrated their technical ability, discipline, and understanding of fundamental and advanced karate principles. From Kihon to Kata and Kumite, the performances reflected a noticeable rise in confidence and competence across all ranks.

A notable highlight of the grading was the participation of several First Kyu students who presented themselves for assessment as they work toward achieving the rank of black belt. Their performances reflected years of consistent training and commitment, and their presence underscored the strengthening development pathway within the association.

According to the Dr. Nicole Lambie – Chief Instructor Trinidad and Tobago Karate Association, The overall standard of the student karateka has improved, which is a good reflection of the dedication and skill of our instructors. We are progressing well on several fronts as we continue to strive for excellence and professionalism in TKA.” This improvement highlights the consistent effort being made by instructors and clubs nationwide to uphold high training standards and foster a positive learning environment.

The End-of-Year Grading not only serves as an assessment of technical progress but also reinforces the values of respect, perseverance, and continuous self-improvement that are central to karate. It provides students with clear goals while encouraging them to remain committed to their personal development both on and off the dojo floor.

As the year comes to a close, the Trinidad and Tobago Karate Association remains focused on strengthening its programs, supporting its instructors, and creating more opportunities for athletes and students to advance. The successful execution of the End-of-Year Grading reflects TKA’s ongoing commitment to building a strong, professional, and unified karate community in Trinidad and Tobago.
